One of the best ports along Malabar Coast and an important trade centre, Alleppey is known for a large network of inland canals. Backwaters and boat cruises, has carved out quite a name for Alleppey and large number of tourists visit the city every year. These backwater cruises are the best way to see the glimpse of the rural life style of Kerala. You may also visit Alleppey Beach,Kerala Backwaters, Krishnapuram Palace, Ambalapuzha Temple and Aruthunkal.

Site Seeing Chettikulangara Bhagawathy Temple - The highlight of this impressive Chettikulangara Bhagawathy Temple is its massive oil lamp made from granite. Processions of tall decorated structures on chariots, brightly decorated effigies of horses and bullocks and cultural performances make a spectacular pageant.

Eddakal Caves - Located in the Ambukuthis hills; a massive split in the side of a cliff formed these fascinating caves. The two natural rock formations that resulted are a repository of well-preserved pictographs dating back to ancient times, and widely considered to be among the finest in the world. Walking half a mile along a trail, ensuring a degree of solitude, can only access them.

Kanakakkunnu Palace - Travencore rajas lived in this magnificent palace dating from the 1800s. The red brick exterior with its gables and pagoda shape is best experienced after dark when lights turn the palace into a work of art.

Alleppey Beach - Alleppey Beach is also known as Alappuzha Beach. Alleppey Beach is one of the most popular beaches of Kerala. One thing that draws people to this beach is the facilities at Vijaya Beach Park. Nearby Alleppey beach there are large network of lakes, lagoons and several freshwater rivers. Alleppey beach is long and has thick palm groves on one end. This is an ideal place to sit and relax.

Andrew's Church ? Andrew's Church, established by the Portuguese missionaries in 1864 and was completed in 1866. This church was mainly built for the use of Scottish officers.

How to reach Alleppy By Air: The Nearest airport is Kochi International Airport, which is about 85 km from Alleppey town.

By Rail: Alleppey is the nearest railway station, which is about 5km from the beach.

By Road: An Excellent road network links Alleppy to all major cities of southern India.

Climate Alleppey, being a coastal area, is humid all through the year. Summers have a dry and humid weather with maximum temperature nearly 37?C. Winters are pleasant with temperature between 22?C to 30?C. Best Season to visit Alleppey is from August to February.
