Mysore is one of the best tourist places of India. Sweet perfume lingers from saffron and sandalwood carvings, and bright silks wave in the breeze in the 'sugar and spice-all things nice? city of Mysore. The city is famous for it?s silk and is also a thriving sandalwood and incense center, through don't expect the air to be any more fragrant than that of the next town. The maharaja's walled Indo -Saracenic palace is a major attraction of Mysore.

Site Seeing Mysore Palace - Mysore Palace once the residence of the Wodeyars. This palace exudes a grandeur that is unmatched. The Golden Royal Elephant Throne, the Durbar Hall, the Kalyana Mandep and the Gallery are the main attractions here.

St. Philomena's church - In the Gothic stule, is one of the largest churches on the country and has beautiful stained-glass windows.

Chamundi Hills - Towering over the city, these hills are 13 km away from Mysore. On Chamundi Hill is a temple to Goddess Chamundi, a form of the Female Power ?Shakti?. Coming down the hill is the largest Nandi Bull in the country. Towering at a massive 5 meters, carved from a single rock in 1659 this sculpture is really a must-see.

Brindavan Gardens - Brindavan Gardens is 19 km northwest of Mysore is the KRS Dam and the ornamental Brindavan Gardens. The musical fountains and colorful lights transform this palace into fairyland in the evenings.

Mysore Zoo - The Mysore Zoo is said to be among the best-maintained zoo in India. In the mornings the tigers are let out of their cages to roam in the comparatively more natural habitat of the enclosure. Houses some rare animals bred in captivity and exotic species of plants.

Climate Mysore has a moderate climate. Summer day temperatures average at 30? C though some days. Winter is extremely comfortable, with day temperatures for December averaging 27? C. Mysore gets an average 86 centimetres of rain annually, most of it during the monsoon, which lasts from June to October. As such Mysore enjoys the pleasant weather but in summers the city too become hot and humid. The best time to visit the city is during Dussehra Festival in October-November.

How to reach Mysore By Air - The nearest airport is Bangalore, which is just 139 km from Mysore. All the domestic airlines in the country operate their flights to Bangalore from all the major cities in the country.

By Train - Mysore is well connected with a number of trains from Bangalore and major cities of India. Shatabdi Express connects Mysore with Chennai.

By Road - Mysore is well connected by road to all-important cities of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Regular bus services and taxis are available from Bangalore city.
