Vijayawada is known as the political as well as publishing capital of Andhra Pradesh. It is also known as 'the city that never sleeps'. Kanaka Durga Temple - Kanaka Durga Temple is one of the most famous temples of Vijayawada. It is located on an Indrakeeladri hill. One can either motor up the ghat road or take to the steps on foot. During Dasara, lakhs of devotees from the city and its environs throng the temple after a holy dip in the River Krishna close by.

Gunadala Matha Shrine - Gundala Church is situated on a hillock on the eastern side of the town, at Gundala. It attracts a large number of devotees. It is also known as St. Mary's church.

Undavalli Caves - Undavalli Caves are just 8 kms from Vijayawada. The high hill overlooking the Krishna River hosts fine specimens of cut-in architectural and sculptural models.

Gandhi Hill - Gandhi Hill is also known as Gandhi Stupa and Orr Hill. This Monument built in memory of Mahatma Gandhi. Sound and light show and planetarium are main attractions here.

Mangalagiri - Mangalagiri is 12 kms from Vijayawada and it is the renowned temple of Lord Narasimha in Mangalagiri, on a hillock. The feature of this temple is that the mouth of the idol accepts half the quantity of Panakam offered by devotees, irrespective of the size of the vessel.
