Departing and ending from Zanzibar airport, the 3-day Tanzania Safari takes you to three of the best parks in the Northern Circuit, including; Ngorongoro Crater (one of the two most famous wildlife parks in Tanzania), Tarangire National Park, and Lake Manyara National Park, a small evergreen gem of its kind.
Starting with Tarangire National Park, you will visit this nature theater that is famous for its unusually huge herds of elephants and the gigantic baobab trees that dot the park, as well as rare species such as gerenuks and oryxes. Accommodation during the safari can be in a nice tent/lodge camp near the park, just outside the park boundary, with great views of the plains and Burunge Lake to the far horizon.
On the first day, you will take an early morning flight from Zanzibar to Arusha, where you will meet your safari guide. You will begin your adventure upon arrival with a tour through the Masai Steppe via the Makuyuni Junction and over down to Tarangire National Park, which is now the fifth-largest park in Tanzania.
Tarangire National Park is dotted with incredibly large baobab trees and extraordinary herds of elephants. Tarangire is a must-see on your Tanzania safari if you are a lover of jumbos or other great games in general.
The park is home to many species of animals and rare breeds such as the Oryx and Hirolas, as well as some species of rare birds.
Later in the afternoon we will leave the park and head further north towards Karatu, where you will check into a lodge for dinner and an overnight stay. Night at Country Lodge, Karatu, or similar. Lunch and dinner included.
After breakfast at your lodge/camp, you will depart for the Ngorongoro Crater, also known as the 8th wonder of the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Upon arrival, you will check-in at the Loduare main gate, after which you will descend into the crater for a magestious game drive (with a picnic lunch on the crater floor.)
"crater" "(which is not actually a crater) is the largest intact volcanic caldera in the world and a known natural sanctuary for some of the densest animal populations in Africa.
It is also one of the few places in the world where You can find the rare black rhino seen in its natural habitat. As very few animals enter and leave the crater with its 2000 foot high walls, you can expect to see lions, elephants, zebras, hippos, flamingos, jackals, rhinos, antelopes, many birds, and other species ...
Fortunately, the big 5 can only be seen during a safari with the help of your guide in the hawk's eyes.
In the afternoon, you will go up to the crater rim and check into a lodge or we will take you to our regular lodge in Karatu, just outside the conservation area near the gate.
Overnight at Country Lodge in Karatu or similar. All meals included!
On the last day of your 3-day Safari Tanzania, Early morning breakfast at the lodge (or you can also pack a packed breakfast and lunch) and descend to the floor of the Great Rift Valley, where you will visit Lake Manyara National Park.
The name "Manyara" is a Maa word (Maasai language) for the Pencil cactus tree (euphorbia tirucalli) that Maasai nomads use to make hedges to protect their property and livestock. The park stands out with many of these trees and climbing lions that are often seen napping in the branches in the afternoon.
It is common to see many other animals in this evergreen park; it includes; impalas, giraffes, buffalo, impalas and dik-diks.
You will notice that, at the moment you enter this park, there is a lush, evergreen forest fed by underground water streams and is an adequate shelter for blue monkeys, baboons, bush males, and huge elephants that take refuge in the sheds from the afternoon sun and devour the green branches, twigs, and grass.
At the hippo pools and at Lake Manyara, you will have the opportunity to observe hippos and water birds, including colorful flamingos, pelicans, Egyptian geese, cormorants, and many more.
In addition, you will go on a game drive until noon and then head to Arusha where you will be dropped off at Arusha Domestic Airport to catch a flight to Zanzibar. The flight leaves around 4.45 pm and arrives around 6:00 p.m.
