About this tour

5-day Tanzania Safari is our typical 5-day safari which includes wildlife viewing (game drives) at a more relaxed pace.

This safari starts and ends in Arusha which is the base town for all safaris we offer in Northern Tanzania. you will have the opportunity to visit all the most famous parks of the Northern Tanzania Safari Circuit, namely; Tarangire National Park, Ngorongoro Crater, and the Endless Plains of Serengeti National Park.

A classic 5 day safari in Tanzania like this gives you the opportunity to experience all that this beautiful country has to offer in terms of wildlife and exoticism. Serengeti National Park is the second largest after Ruaha National Park, but the most famous on the northern circuit as it is home to the wildebeest migration, which sees over a million herds of wildebeest accompanied by over 400,000 Thomson’s gazelles, 300,000 zebras, and around 12,000 elands reflected on the endless plains that eventually make their way to the Masai Mara Game Reserve in Kenya in search of fresh grass and water.

The result is an annual world-famous animal show in which the animals dare to confront the dangerously infested Nile crocodile in the Mara River, a phenomenon often referred to as “the great wildebeest migration“.

Thousands of other animals roam the Serengeti throughout the year and that’s not all. This program takes you to the equally famous wildlife reserve in the world and to a UNESCO World Heritage Center; The Ngorongoro Crater, which is actually a large caldera resulting from the collapse of a huge ancient volcano.

It is believed to be taller than Mount Kilimanjaro, which is Africa’s tallest and highest mountain. To add the icing on the cake, start by visiting Tarangire National Park, a vast park (the fifth largest in Tanzania) where you expect to see plenty of games, big and small, including rare ones like the gerenuks at long neck and oryx. .

This park provides opportunities to observe wildlife in a variety of different ecosystems, you may get a chance to see the famous tree-climbing lions found lazing on branches of acacia trees. The park also features large concentrations of elephant and buffalo. Over 380 species of birds have been recorded included the immense Silvery Cheeked Hornbill, one of the largest breed, Crested Guinea Fowl, found deep in the forest. Many hippos reside in the water, as do thousands of flamingo and other water birds. As the afternoon draws to a close, you will leave the park and drive to the town of Karatu for two nights in your accommodation in Tloma Mountain Lodge or on the crater rim in Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge: Full board

Day 3 Ngorongoro Crater exploration

After breakfast, you will descend into the crater with picnic lunches in tow. The largest Caldera in the world (imploded volcano with an intact rim) The rim at 7,200′ overlooks the Crater floor below. The various ecosystems within the crater provide a home for many different mammals and birds, including the rare black rhino in its natural habitat. Later in the afternoon, you will drive back to the Ngorongoro Conservation area and check-in at a lodge for dinner. You will enjoy your dinner at a beautiful mid-range lodge at Karatu like Marera Valley Lodge or Country Lodge at Karatu nearby. Here ends the 3rd day of your 5-day Tanzania safari.

We drive early in the morning after your breakfast from Ngorongoro Crater to the Serengeti National Park. As you arrive early, you can catch up with rare species of nocturnal animals as well as early risers between daytime animals. Now is a good time to see the animals up close, as most games like to line the sides of the road to escape the morning dew. Then, you will spend the day on game drives throughout Serengeti National Park. The name Serengeti comes from a Maasai word "Siringit" meaning endless plains and, true to its name, you will explore vast expanses of the African savannah in search of the many animals that the Serengeti has to offer. Besides wildebeests, expect to see other animals including elephants, lions, cheetahs, elusive leopards, zebras, elands, and a host of resident and migrating birds. Night at Thorntree Camp or Serengeti Green Hills Camp. All meals are included.

Excellent read, I just passed this onto a friend who was doing a little research on that. And he just bought me lunch since I found it for him smile Therefore let me rephrase that: Thanks for lunch! "The capacity to care is what gives life its most deepest significance." by Pablo Casals.

Excellent, probably the best yet.

This was an amazing trip. Totally fell in love with Vietnam, We did so much in such in two weeks. The cycling, somehow. only felt like a small part of the experience as there were so many other things that we did. Each day was full on, exceptionally well organised, great food, etc Been on a few cycle trips, and I think this was the best one so far.

A Brilliant Trip

We have been on a couple of cycling trips before and this one was probably the best. Tri our guide was outstanding and all our fellow cyclists were a great bunch of people. We got a real flavour of life in Vietnam. Lots of interesting food. The meals were good and plentiful. Thought we would lose weight but didn't! Good Hotels. Many highlights but a couple or so to point out,Whale Island and Hoi An, the 30km exhilarating downhill ride and cycling in city centre traffic...... great fun but leaves your heart racing. It is quite full on which leaves you wanting to spend more time in some of the places visited. The usual pattern is arrive at 5 - 6 pm, leave at 7.15 next morning. However we did find time to swim in the hotel pools. Overnight train was great fun ....all part of the adventure. To cover the length of the country there are some longish times in the bus but the bus was comfortable but great chance to talk with your fellow travellers. This also gives you time to see more of the country and people watch. Staggered us how much could be piled on a scooter! The bikes were ideal for the road conditions as well as being clean and very well maintained. At the frequent refreshment/rest stops there was lots of juice, water, fruit, nuts and biscuits. The driver and bike mechanic were very friendly and very competent. Great organization, things happened when Tri said they would.
